Adverbs of place tell us where something happens. They are usually placed after the main verb or after the clause that they modify.

Here and There

• here    Come here!
• there   Japan? I've always wanted to go there.   

Direction

• up        She jumped up from her chair.
• down    I watched as the sun went down.
• across  The river is too wide. We can't swim across.
• north    The train was heading north to Chiang Mai. 
• south    The bus was heading south to Songkhla.
• east       My house faces east.
• west      My bedroom faces west.
